Our brief was to create a paper animation to breath life into a presentation that was very dry, dull and technical, about Floodplain Risk Management in the Wollongong Region.

‘We’re hoping for some creative magic’

Fluffy Cloud developed the pop-up book style animation that literally unfolds as we learn about the unique landscape of Wollongong, it’s vulnerability to flooding and it’s flood management plan.

It was imperative that the video presented factually-accurate information. Fluffy Cloud were presented with concepts that we developed into visual ideas which helped bring the script to life. Using this approach, we were able to translate the technical information into easy to understand, creative and engaging visuals.

“The video has been very well received by internal staff, including floodplain engineers, media and communications staff, divisional managers, directors and councillors. We have had overwhelmingly positive feedback from the community after we published it on our social media channels and the commentary on these platforms shows it is already achieving its educative objective. It was also picked up and shared by local news media organisation, the Illawarra Mercury. Wollongong State Emergency Service have also requested to use it as part of their community education work on this subject.”
