Share the path, Cycle Safety

City of Newcastle

Fluffy Cloud Media created a series of animations on cycle safety for the City of Newcastle. We filmed a range of settings around Newcastle featuring The Fernleigh Track, a 16km converted rail line that is now a bike path, King Edward Park that overlooks Newcastle beach along with favourite biking locations. We combined these live action backgrounds with 3D characters, who interact with each other as they ride, casually educating the viewer on the polite and safe way to ride and share the bike path.

The use of cute and cheeky puns throughout keep the animation lighthearted, eliminating the possible preachiness of rules. The wide demographic of characters and popularity of animation make the video suitable for all ages.

The first in a series of Cycle safety films, ‘Share the path’ explores using a shared path when riding, skating, walking and pushing. Common situations that we come across when using shared pathways with others are explored, while encouraging friendly and thoughtful ways to communicate and safely use the path.

‘Share the Path’ exceeded online engagement expectations for an organic post, with over 60,000 views of the animation and more than 600 shares.
